What is DBCAN?

DBCAN matches DeafBlind adults with trained Providers who assist with accomplishing everyday tasks, such as: reading mail and other printed materials, exercising and participating in fitness programs, using the MBTA and other modes of transportation, doing personal errands (bank, hair salon, shopping, and more), and attending medical appointments, community, cultural, educational, recreational, and religious events.

For Providers

All DBCAN Providers complete a specialized training, including understanding DeafBlind perspectives, communication skills, guiding techniques, and confidentiality. Providers are matched with consumers according to consumer needs and preferences. If you are interested in becoming a Provider, please click the button to apply.

For MCB Consumers

If you are a DeafBlind adult with an open MCB case, you are eligible for up to 16 hours of provider services each month.

For Non-MCB Consumers

If you are not a MCB consumer, please contact the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind (MCB) to get registered first before you can receive provider services here.

DBCAN accepts referrals only from the MCB.
