Title: Outreach Specialist

Hours/Location: 25 hours/week – Contracted, hybrid position

Description: The Outreach Specialist connects with Deaf, DeafBlind, Hard of Hearing and LateDeafened community members who have not received DEAF, Inc. services and may benefit from those services. Reaching out to Service Providers, the Deaf and Hearing Communities to provide information and resources on DEAF, Inc. programs and services.

Summary of duties:

• Collaborate with supervisors on assigned outreach plans
• Proactively identify opportunities for hosting exhibits and information sessions
• Communicate outreach events & opportunities with staff according to office location
• Provide outreach presentations independently or with staff as appropriate
• Develop and distribute program information
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• Strong organizational, professional and time management skills
• Some experience in public relations, marketing, and public speaking
• Fluent in written English, and ability to communicate clearly
• Able to work and travel independently, and as part of a team, in-person and remotely

Preferred Qualifications:

• Awareness of issues facing Deaf, DeafBlind, Hard of Hearing, and Late-Deafened people
• Fluent in American Sign Language (or willing to learn)
• Conversational skills in a second spoken language – Spanish preferred
• Experience recording vlogs (or willing to learn)
