Job Title: Advocate (35 hours a week, Hybrid, serving the New Bedford & Cape Cod, MA Region)

Location: New Bedford, MA; Cape Cod, MA

Hours: 35 hours a week, non-exempt, hybrid

Competitive Pay: Competitive salary, $1,500 sign-on bonus, relocation costs covered!

Description: Provides direct services to Deaf and Hard of Hearing adults and seniors who use spoken English and/or American Sign Language to communicate. Works with consumers to achieve their goals, build skills, and expand abilities and knowledge for success and to increase awareness, information and access in the community. Serves the Southeast region and Cape Cod & Islands region.

Key Duties:

- Manage a reasonable caseload of adults who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing who use spoken English orAmerican Sign Language to communicate

- Provide direct services: intake, peer counseling, advocacy, skills training, information and referral

- Conduct intake assessments and develop written service plans that delineate advocacy and skills training goals, coordinate implementation, and periodically review the plan

- Provide outreach and education to consumers and the community

Required Qualifications:

-Bachelor's degree in the area of deafness, human services, or a related field, or 2 years of related workexperience with Deaf or Hard of Hearing adults

-Fluent in written English

-Willing to learn and use additional communication modes (i.e., visual gestures) to meet the needs of thepopulation served

-Able to work independently and as part of a team

-Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite

-Must have reliable and accessible private transportation

-Able to demonstrate diplomacy, sensitivity, empathy, and professionalism

-Able to motivate others towards achieving their goals

Preferred Qualifications:

- Sensitivity to and awareness of issues affecting individuals and seniors with hearing loss

- Working knowledge of assistive technology for Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Late Deafened adults

- Experiential community involvement
