Introduction: Hannah Lewis, Program Director of DEAF, Inc.'s Project HOPE

Hello, my name is Hannah Lewis and I am the Program Director of DEAF, Inc.'s Project HOPE. Project HOPE provides health support services. What are "health support services"? I'll explain them for you now.
Health support includes Prevention and Education in group workshops. We offer many different workshops on topics like HIV/AIDS, Obesity, Diabetes, Heart Disease, Quitting Smoking, Blood Pressure, Health Aging, Healthy Teeth, Addiction and more. We offer workshops on weekly basis. We also offer 1:1 Education. Project HOPE staff can sit with you and explain in ASL about health issues in detail.
Another health support service we offer is peer support groups. You can meet with a group of people who have the same health issues as you and you can support and learn from each other.
We also offer case management services and can support you to request ASL interpreters at medical appoinments, can go with you to your medical appointments and can help you understand your medications and health issues.
We also offer fitness classes and healthy cooking classes.
We want to emphasize that our health support servcies are all confidential.
We have a brohcure and you can find it on our webiste.
Project HOPE staff want to help you feel healthier and feel good. I hope you will visit us at Project HOPE soon. Bye and take care.

Hello, my name is Tom Bourque. I am the Community Outreach Specialist for DEAF, Inc.'s Project HOPE. I teach the Deaf community how to avoid HIV/AIDS. HIV is a serious disease. It makes your body weak. People often get HIV through sex and sharing needles. It is important to use safe sex materials. WE can give you FREE condoms, female condoms, dams, and lubes. It is important to use new and clean needles only. You can buy needles in stores without prescription, or get free hneedles at needle exchange programs. It is important to stay healthy. Why? I can make an appointment at a hospital, request an interpeter, and go with you for an HIV test. It is private and confidential. If you have questions, please write me and we can chat on VP.
