Program Overview

DEAF, Inc. offers ASL instruction to adults who are interested in learning the language and about Deaf culture. Classes are taught in a relaxed setting that reinforces learning through interactive participation and fun through contact with Deaf and Hard of Hearing ASL users. All of our experienced instructors are Deaf and fluent ASL users.

Weekly classes are offered over 10-week sessions in the fall, winter, and spring. In the summer, classes are offered twice weekly for five weeks. All classes run from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

ASL Classes

ASL Levels 1A/B, 2A/B, 3A/B, 4A/B and 5 are available to Hearing, Deaf, and Hard of Hearing adults (16+) and are easy-paced, fun-filled, and include plenty of review. The classes use direct method and language immersion, along with structured dialogues within situational contexts, role-playing, practice dialogues, and other activities. We encourage our students to participate in group field trips to Deaf events to reinforce their skills and to learn more about Deaf culture. Classes are based on the Signing Naturally curriculum by DawnSignPress. The following list shows the Signing Naturally (SN) textbook that correspond to each class level we offer.
