DEAF, Inc. Special Announcement 7/7/2017
Sharon Applegate: Hello, I’m Sharon Applegate, the Executive Director of DEAF, Inc. We have exciting news to share. For many years DEAF, Inc. has had 4 offices in Boston, Salem, Taunton and New Bedford. Those offices have provided IL – Independent Living Services — for many years and this will continue. Our new information is that starting July 1, 2017 DEAF, Inc. will provide IL services in a new region… the Northeast region. That includes includes the towns of Lawrence, Haverhill and Salisbury. We will have a new office in that region, in Lawrence. What’s also new is that starting July 1, 2017, DEAF, Inc. will provide IL services in another new region – Cape Cod and the Islands. We will have an office in Hyannis. Next, you will see a map with the different regions, identified by different colors.

Carol Hilbinger: Hello, I’m Carol Hilbinger – Director Independent Living at DEAF, Inc. Independent Living (IL). What do we do in IL? Many different things, some examples are….
There is more that we do – it’s impossible to show all of them because IL is very broad.
Matthew Castiglione: Hello my name is Matthew Castiglione, I’m the Regional Director for Independent Living Services DEAF, Inc. for the Northeast and North Shore regions. The Northeast region will soon have an office in Lawrence. We will be hiring new staff for the new Lawrence office. I will be overseeing both the Northeast and North Shore regions.
We also will have another office on Cape Cod in Hyannis. The regional director for that region is Catarina Lima, she will oversee that area. We are looking forward to working with you. Anyone who is interested in receiving services from us, please feel free to contact us us via videophone or email, or check our website for more information.

40th Anniversary Gala! Vlog TranscriptHello! DEAF, Inc. is having a momentous event! The 40th Anniversary Gala!! Here are the details:
Transcript: The video begins with a shot of the “Welcome to Yawkey Way” sign outside of Fenway Park. Scene cuts to inside the park, where there are rows of stadium seats, then we see a close-up view of the grass and field. Next is a close up of a man tipping a red baseball cap and a woman in a Red Sox baseball cap nodding. There is a close up shot of a baseball glove and ball and then we see the baseball face paint close-up on the man’s cheek. There is a close up of the man wrapping his fingers around the handle of the baseball bat.
The Scene changes to down on the field, the man and woman are both dressed in Red Sox shirts and hats as they approach the camera. They are signing.

Wes: The game starts at 7:10 pm, but you’re welcome to come early for the pre-game social at the Budweiser Deck. It starts at 5:30 pm. Make sure to be at your seat around 6:45 – 6:50 pm to watch the ASL-interpreted announcement of the lineup and a Deaf Community member will be signing the National Anthem and another Deaf Community member will be signing they 7th inning stretch.
Julie: How do we order tickets?
Wes: You order tickets using the website below, (https://groupmatics.events/event/Deafhoh) , or select the link below the video and pay for your tickets. Why is it important to purchase tickets through the website?
Julie: If you use this website (https://groupmatics.events/event/Deafhoh) to buy tickets, the Red Sox will use the money and part of the proceeds will go to DEAF, Inc. and ODSC. So it’s important that you buy your tickets using the website so we can all sit together and have fun. Go Red Sox!

Hello! I’m Joe Toldeo, the Volunteer Committee Chair for the event. The Anniversary Gala is On Saturday, April 29th from 6:30pm – 10pm in Newton at 296 California Street. Please keep in mind, this event is 21 plus only. You can register and pay for the gala on our website at www.deafinconline.org. There are three options for tickets: $50 if you pay before March 15th, $60 if you pay after March 15th and $25 for DEAF, Inc. consumers. There will be no ticket sales AFTER April 15th; you will not be able to pay at the door. You can also print out the “Tickets and Sponsorship” form and mail it to DEAF, Inc. with a check. There will be interpreters and CART providers at the Gala. If you need DeafBlind interpreters, please email email@example.com by April 1st, 2017. DeafBlind attendees can bring one service provider free of charge. If you’d like to purchase a full or half table, make a special donation or advertise in the program book, take a look at the “Tickets and Sponsorship” form for details. Hello! I’m Elvira Livchits, the entertainment committee chair for DEAF, Inc.’s 40th Anniversary Gala. I wanted to give you an idea of what to look forward to on the night of the event! Doors open at 6:30pm for cocktail hour. Guests will enjoy appetizers, drinks, great conversation and an opportunity to have their photo taken at the photo booth. At 7:30, the dining room will open for a buffet dinner. During dinner we’ll have a variety of entertainers table-hopping. After dinner the stage show begins which will include comedy, magic, historical presentations and more!! The event will be filmed and projected on screens in the ballroom. Please come celebrate with us. We look forward to seeing you there!
