The experience and opportunity to be a part of this unique, language-rich organization that services the Deaf and Deaf-Blind community is beneficial to anyone who plans to work with either culture. (If you are volunteering for a class, please contact us early in the semester.) Below you will find a list of departments where you can volunteer as well as the requirements for volunteering at D.E.A.F. Inc. The most important requirements to have are an eagerness to learn and a desire to benefit others as well as yourself!! Programs at D.E.A.F. Inc: Please research our website to get a full description of each program and to get more information about D.E.A.F. Inc. Some Possible Volunteer Opportunities: - Helping for the Thanksgiving Event (A hall is rented for our consumers
in celebration of Thanksgiving; help would be needed to serve food, set-up,
make sure everyone is having a GREAT time, etc) - Taking pictures at Adult Education Awards Night - General office work (filing, copying, phone calls, tty calls, etc) - And many more! Requirements: - You must have taken ASL 1 or at least be taking ASL 1 to volunteer - You need to fill out a background check (this can take up to 2 to 4 weeks so again, if you need to volunteer for class requirements, contact us early in the semester).
