Volunteers/ Non-paid Internships (Boston Office) There are many different opportunities at D.E.A.F., Inc for you to volunteer. The experience and opportunity to be a part of this unique, language-rich organization that services the Deaf, Deaf-Blind, Hard of Hearing and Late-Deafened Communities is beneficial to anyone who plans to work with either of these cultures. (If you are volunteering for a class, please contact us early in the semester.) Below you will find a list of departments where you can volunteer as well as the requirements for volunteering at D.E.A.F., Inc. The most important requirements to have are an eagerness to learn and a desire to benefit others as well as yourself!! Programs at D.E.A.F., Inc: Please research our website to get a full description of each program and to get more information about D.E.A.F., Inc. Some Possible Volunteer Opportunities: - Project HOPE’s Annual Health Fair that is held each spring. - General office work (filing, copying, phone calls, TTY calls, etc) - And much, much more! Requirements: - You must have taken ASL 1 or have had a minimum of 1 year of ASL class instruction to volunteer - You need to fill out volunteer paperwork and a background CORI check (this can take up to 2 to 4 weeks so again, if you need to volunteer for class requirements, contact us early in the semester).
