Services
Regional Director of Independent Living Services, Boston Office - Full Time
Goal:
The goal of this position is to provide the Independent Living Program with efficient on-site management of IL Services. The Regional Director will perform many of the same direct service duties as an Independent Living Specialist, but will also have administrative duties and supervisory responsibilities with local office staff. The Regional Director will work closely with the Director of IL Services to ensure that the Program functions smoothly, that all services are documented appropriately, that new activities proceed according to plan, and that contract goals are met.
Duties:
* Supervise Direct Service Staff's work and assist the Director in evaluating staff performance.
* Participate when necessary in Regional and Statewide meetings that impact the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.
* Coordinate the delivery of services to the community at large including but not limited to Awareness Training, Technical Assistance Services, Outreach, Community Activities, and workshops.
* Work with the Director to identify in-service training needs of staff.
* Represent DEAF, Inc. at meetings and events that relate to the Independent Living Program.
* Manage a reasonable caseload of consumers providing a range of IL Services and documenting such services in a written plan.
* Write reports monthly and collect essential data on a timely basis.
* Complete chart notes and other required documents and maintain them on a timely basis.
* Review charts on a regular basis.
* Assist Director in monitoring staff's units of services.
* Other duties as assigned.
Supervision:
This position reports to the Director of Independent Living Services
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in the area of deafness, human services, or a related field and/or two years related experience with Deaf adults. Supervisory experience preferred. Familiarity with computers, especially with Microsoft Word and Excel. Fluency in ASL. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to perform effectively as part of a team. Sensitivity to and awareness of issues facing Deaf and Hard of Hearing people. Experiential involvement with the Deaf community.
