JOB OPPORTUNITIES : DBCAN Assistant Director

(DBCAN):
DBCAN Assistant Director, Full Time, Boston Office


Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
* Match consumers and providers including monitoring their working relationship.
* Provide support and problem resolution to Providers including maintaining close contact with Providers to ensure their questions and concerns are addressed in a timely way, review progress, monitor quality of services.
* Collect Provider, Interpreter, and Consultant invoices, verify accuracy, and submit to Finance Department.
* Monitor program supply/material needs. Prepare purchase orders.
* Work with IT Consultant and Office Manager in technology trouble-shooting.
* Maintain data tracking (number of consumers served during the year, number of new consumers, number of Providers trained, scheduled Provider hours, service outputs, etc.)
* Coordinate interpreter services to ensure communication access needs are met.
* Draft and edit reports and other written materials as needed.
* Attend DBCAN Advisory Council, Provider, and Consumer meetings to take minutes and help with logistics.
* Prepare narrative/statistical reports for DEAF, Inc., MCB, and MCDHH.
* Attend monthly staff meeting, participate in committees and other related meetings, and perform AOD duties on a rotation basis.
* Answer phone calls and assist with walk in questions.
* Assist DBCAN Director with training logistics and travel plans.

Other duties: Assist DBCAN Director to:
* Monitor DBCAN Program Service goals, especially rate of utilization of services; identify need for rollover of unused Provider hours and other issues impacting program effectiveness.
* Assist DBCAN Director with public relations strategy to publicize DBCAN to maintain visibility and to recruit both consumers and providers. Develop publicity efforts to reach potential DeafBlind consumers.
* Handle grievances, complaint investigation, and resolution of problems in accordance with DEAF, Inc.’s grievance procedures.
* Develop and conduct regular schedule for satisfaction/service evaluation. Consider different strategies such as 1:1 mini-interview, email/print/braille survey.
* Develop and maintain a support system for DBCAN Providers and DeafBlind Consumers.
* Assist DBCAN Director in other aspects of program operation including but not limited to seeking/recruiting/screening/interviewing Provider candidates, assisting with outreach, and acting as liaison with MCB and the DBCAN Advisory Council as needed.
* Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work or a related field.
* Strong interpersonal skills, excellent problem resolution skills, and ability to perform effectively as part of a team.
* A minimum of 3 years experience with DeafBlind individuals and community, and an understanding of and sensitivity to DeafBlind culture.
* A minimum of 3 years experience working with people in problem and conflict resolutions including the ability to assess needs and issues and to provide support and mediation.
* Ability to communicate and sign comfortably with a variety of people, including those using tactile communication. Excellent English and competent computer skills (Microsoft Office) required.
