Administrative Assistant, Full Time

To provide direct administrative support to all agency programs within DEAF, Inc: DeafBlind Community Access Network, Project HOPE, Deaf & Hard of Hearing Independent Living Services, and  Community Education .

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Assist Program Directors in operating all DEAF, Inc. programs including Independent Living Programs serving Greater Boston, Southeast, and Northeast, Project HOPE, Community Education, and DBCAN;
  • Return phone calls, coordinate meetings, and properly distribute requests for Information and Referral;
  • Develop and maintain resource files and other files used by the program staff;
  • Collect and collate data, and develop reports required by different Programs’ contractors;
  • Assist the Program Directors in arranging in-service training opportunities and other meetings for Program staff;
  • Provide editing and reading support;
  • Administrative support, including filing, typing, and updating consumer’s charts and projects that are needed by the agency and its’ programs;
  • Maintain database records and input updated information and ongoing record keeping for Programs;
  • Distribute and edit monthly reports and assist with invoices;
  • Assist with preparing, attending and taking notes for bi-weekly IL staff meetings quarterly DHILS meetings, DBCAN AC meetings and other meetings as required;
  • Assist in the coordination and set up of the DBCAN Provider Training, DBCAN AC meetings, and Support group meetings;
  • Develop and distribute the monthly workshop flyers;
  • Other duties of similar nature assigned by the Program Directors.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in the area of deafness, human services, or a related field and two years related experience with Deaf adults.  Familiarity with computers and all Microsoft Office applications, Fluency in ASL and ability to communicate through tactile sign language, or ability to become fluent quickly. Excellent English skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to perform effectively as part of a team.  Sensitivity to and awareness of issues facing Deaf and Hard of Hearing people.  Experiential involvement within the Deaf community.

Reports to Program Directors
